        Department of Intelligent Detection and Control, formerly the Institute of Automation and Instrumentation, was founded in the 1960s. The department is one of the first eight universities that established the undergraduate major of Measurement and Control Technology and Instrumentation (formerly the major of automatic instrument) in China. In 1982, the second-level discipline of Detection Technology and Automatic Equipment supported by this major obtained the first batch of master degree programs. In 1990, the Application of First Level Disciplines Authorized to Offer Doctorate Degrees was obtained, which is one of the earliest two doctoral programs in this field in China. In 2007, it became a national key discipline. The first-class discipline of control science and engineering, supported by this major, was selected as the national "double-first-class" construction discipline in 2017. The department consists of 4 research institutes, including intelligent instrument, intelligent quantum sensing and optical fiber sensing technology, micro-nano sensing and intelligent detection, intelligent photoelectric detection and in-depth learning, with 30 academic members, including 6 professors, 15 associate professors and 9 lecturers. The predecessor of the Intelligent Detection and Control Department was the Institute of Automation Instrumentation, which was founded in the 1960s. It now has a undergraduate major in measurement and control technology and instrumentation (original automation instrumentation).
